The Bearded Collie Club of America is offering herding instinct testing at our 2025 National Specialty. This testing is open to all Bearded Collies, with no experience required. We will have two instinct testers, Brian Wistrom and Terry Wofford. Brian is a herding judge and BCCA and BCCA Herding Committee member. Terry is a former rodeo cowboy who raises sheep and cattle, trains and judges herding dogs all over the US.

Your Bearded Collie must be 6 months or older to be eligible for testing. You must provide the AKC registration for your dog to receive a certificate. You can upload a photo or PDF file of your dog’s AKC registration papers with the signup form below.

We can instinct test unregistered Bearded Collies. They can get a scored instinct test, but cannot be considered instinct certified because they are not AKC registered dogs. They can pass the test, get a score sheet, and receive a gift.
